a cat is

a creature cut from the
cloth of God.

i grin from
ear to ear
seeing your eyes
of glass
stare at me from
an abyss
of sky.

i will
allow centuries
to flash by
as you stretch
in your slumber
across my lap,
and because of you,

i will never
die.

i will
let you sink
your claws into my flesh,
knowing that it’s all just
an act of love.
